OUR STORY

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Our story begins when my grandmother, who had been looking for a special place for years, came across the house on one of her quests and fell in love instantly. As a writer and passionate nature lover, she wanted to share the magical place she had found with people who loved it as much as herself. Oasis is a lovely country house in the middle of nature. It seems that it was once bought by a notary who used it to play bridge with friends and family in peace. We don't know much about the first owners, who built it around 1860. What we do think we know is that at the time the legislator had a challenge to limit the proliferation of small houses on the heath. In the end they decided that anyone who could build a 'housing' that met the applicable requirements in one day could leave it alone. The owners managed to do that and that is why the modest abode was spared. and over the years a lot has been renovated and added to. Old photographs have emerged from a time when it was a very simple cottage, to an inn with the poetic subtitle 'cottage des roses'. But it was always charming, quirky and surrounded by an overwhelming peace and quiet.

NATURE AS CONSTANT FACTOR

We have maintained Grandma's love for the English country house style during the recent renovation. Despite lovingly bringing it into the 21st century, it still exudes the charm of a bygone era. And nature, of course, remains the most important and unchanged factor. The experience of leaving the garden very early in the morning with a steaming cup of coffee or tea, walking onto the heath and quietly sitting on a bench in the morning mist, can be called life-changing. This is a place you will never forget as it works its way straight to your heart. The animals are slowly waking up. A deer comes surprisingly close, field mice and bunnies scurry among the clumps of grass, and here and there a bird calls out to the rising sun. Many friends have lost their hearts during the endless walks and the warm lazy summer afternoons on the lawn. Oasis is located in the middle of the Kalmthout Heath. A breathtakingly beautiful location where one can walk for hours without encountering any living creature other than guinea fowl, hares, roe deer or even the released cattle that graze peacefully.

A TRIBUTE

As a tribute to the special woman who was the previous owner of Oasis, we are working on a timeline, about her life and work. It contains all the special things that have led to where we are today. After all, born in 1908, she has experienced enormous changes and in her own unique way was also a driving part of them.

The logo above, which we recently had designed, pays tribute to that special woman in its own way. Oasis is the name given to the place by the region a long time ago. The symbol for a book below it refers to Grandma's work, the curls at the top to the branches and grasses so specific to this place, and the circle around the owl feather (symbol for Grandma and the writing), makes everything come together again . In the end, everything is one, and we are convinced that we are all in the same boat on this beautiful blue marble, and that we can only do it together!

That is why Oasis is a place of connection for people who want to make the world a bit more beautiful together. Do you want to know how we shape that?
